This is how you score six points on one play.

It’s the Game of the Century, West Coast edition!

Last week was all about Louisiana State and Alabama in the SEC. This week the Pac-12’s two best teams get their turn in the spotlight.

(Well, the portion of the spotlight not glaring on Penn State. I don’t blame anyone who doesn’t feel like watching college football this weekend.)

Alabama still has numbers on its helmets. Oregon has as many different helmets as there are numbers.

Stanford is an academic giant. LSU can’t spell “Go.”

Les Miles eats grass. Chip Kelly’s players possess grass.

Yep, Cardinal v. Ducks will be just like Crimson Tide v. Tigers…but with touchdowns.

The TV Schedule of the Century (all times Arizona/Mountain):

Date Away Home Time TV
Sat Nov 12 ARIZONA Colorado 12:30 p.m. FCS Pacific
  Washington USC 1:45 p.m. FX
  OSU Cal 4:30 p.m. CSNBA
UCLA Utah 4:30 p.m. Prime Ticket
  Oregon Stanford 6 p.m. ABC
  ASU WSU 8:30 p.m. Versus

The entire dozen is in action on the same day and the games are spread out so you can marinate in Pac-12 football action from noon to midnight.

ARIZONA (2-7 / 1-6) at Colorado (1-9 / 0-6)
This is the Buffaloes’ final home game. If CU is going to win a Pac-12 game it has to happen now. By the way, the first University of Colorado football team wore uniforms that said “UC.” Somewhere along the way the school got dyslexia.

Washington (6-3 / 4-2) at USC (7-2 / 4-2)
The Huskies are 0-3 against ranked teams this year. USC is #18 in the AP poll.

Who do Wildcat fans want to win?
USC? South pride? I can’t think of a strong reason to cheer for either one. Decide if you like “Sark” or “Kiff” less and root against that guy.

OSU (2-7 / 2-4) at Cal (5-4 / 2-4)
Cal is 4-1 in its “home” games this year but this is the Bears’ final game at AT&T Park.

Who do Wildcat fans want to win?
Cal. Lock up that bowl bid, Jeff Tedford, and run up the score if you can. Style points cool seats!

UCLA (5-4 / 4-2) at Utah (5-4 / 2-4)
The Utes want to keep the Pac-12’s longest bowl streak alive. UCLA wants to keep its Rose Bowl hopes alive. I still can’t believe it either.

Who do Wildcat fans want to win?
UCLA. With the USC game on the road this one is must-win if the Bruins want a shot at the Pac-12 Championship Game.

Oregon (8-1 / 6-0) at Stanford (9-0 / 7-0)
Hold on, we’re going to do this a little differently…

Who do Wildcat fans want to win?
It depends. If you want a Pac-12 team in the BCS title game, you want Stanford. If you want a team in the P-12 CG that has already shown it can beat ASU at home, root for the Ducks.

Who is going to win?
TWIT-Pac doesn’t do a lot of predictions but a game like this deserves some guessing.

I keep coming back to the Jim Harbaugh factor. Harbaugh is too good a coach for Stanford not to miss him at some point. Was the near-loss at USC that point? I think there’s another one coming.

Oregon’s M.O. is to let teams hang with them for a half and then zoom by them in the 2nd half. Stanford didn’t just hang with Oregon early on last year, the Cardinal had a 21-3 lead. And they still lost by three touchdowns.

The pick: Oregon 46, Stanford 31

ASU (6-3 / 4-2) at WSU (3-6 / 1-5)
Yes, you want to get your games on TV. No, you don’t want to be playing night games on the Palouse. The weather forecast? High of 38°F, low of 27°F, with a 30% chance of snow.

Who do Wildcat fans want to win?
WSU. The Devils are 1-3 on the road. Cat fans would love to see them slink into the Territorial Cup coming off back-to-back dream-crushing defeats.

* * *

The Wildcats really want a win too. The problem is the UA has a worse all-time record against Colorado than against any other school it’s played more than four times. The Buffs are 12-1 against Arizona.

How did that happen? The Cats played Colorado 10 times from 1950-1960…and lost them all. Before that there was a loss in 1931 and after that was a loss in 1985. The UA finally broke through with a 24-21 win in Boulder in September of 1986. After that CU said, “If you’re going to be like that we’re not playing you anymore.” This is the first meeting since.

Just in case the Pac-12 expands again here are some other teams that Arizona doesn’t want to see joining:

School Record vs. UA
Rice 4-0
LSU 3-0
Michigan State 3-0
Missouri 3-0
Tulsa 2-0
Western New Mexico 1-0
Phoenix Union H.S. 1-0

Let’s hope nobody gets any ideas about bringing back the Coyotes.
