The Arizona Wildcats sure could use a record-breaking performance with the top-five Oregon Ducks coming to town this Saturday.
The updated record book shows UA running back Ka’Deem Carey is within striking distance of a couple prestigious school marks.
Rushing Yards, Career
With 149 rushing yards against UCLA, Carey passed Ontiwaun Carter to become the second-leading rusher in Arizona history. His 132 yards against WSU have him 118 away from breaking Trung Canidate’s all-time school record.
Rushing Touchdowns, Career
Carey scored one rushing TD in each of the last two games which inched him closer to another career record. If this mark falls against Oregon the Cats will be in good shape.
Rushing Yards by Quarterback, Season
B.J. Denker passed Ronnie Veal to set the new single season record when he ran for 82 yards against UCLA. He added 64 more against Wazzu.
Rushing Touchdowns, Season
Carey leapfrogged Denker for this year’s team lead, giving the pair a total of 23 rushing TDs. As a frame of reference, Carey and QB Matt Scott combined for 29 touchdowns on the ground last year.
Rushing Yards, Season
Ka’Deem made some big strides on this chart. He passed six different Wildcats against UCLA and jumped a couple more last week. Carey’s 2013 campaign is now the fourth-best single season total by a Wildcat. Seven yards moves him past Art Luppino’s best year, 1954.
Uniform Combination Database
Last week White-Blue-White lost for just the second time since the white helmets were reintroduced in 2010. This week’s combo, the all-reds, has only been worn once before, last year’s ASU game. Let’s hope for a slightly better result.
